Relax in this spectacularly beautiful well-kept villa with lush garden located on the west coast of Bali. Situated in peaceful ricefields only 400m from Brawa beach and a short 10 minute drive to Seminyak and the island’s most exciting restaurants, spas and shopping, Villa Salju is the perfect place for experiencing the magical atmosphere of coastal Bali.

The house consists of a two-storey main building, a poolside guest house and a generous outdoor relaxation pavilion with oversized sofas in the expansive tropical garden. The pool, deck and koi pond are surrounded by frangipanis. The architecture is modern with clean lines and the theme is white, with hues of blue and grey. The home is well appointed and beautifully decorated. There is stunning mood lighting throughout house and garden for romantic tropical evenings and parties. The total property area is 700 square metres/7,500 square feet.

The beds in all three bedrooms have very comfortable king-size King Koil mattresses with white linens. All bedrooms have air-con and fans and are able to be individually locked. Each bedroom has a tropical ensuite bathroom with rainfall shower. The first bedroom is on the ground floor of the main house, and has a large adjacent dressing room. The ensuite bathroom has a slightly open roof, giving it a semi-outdoor feel and at the same time affording complete privacy. The second bedroom and ensuite are upstairs in the main house with its own very large balcony with daybed overlooking the ricefields. (Tip: The sunsets as watched from the large top balcony are simply stunning.) On a clear day the holy Balinese volcanoes can be seen to the east from here. The third bedroom and ensuite are in the poolside guest house. I am happy to organise a cot for your little one if needed.

The main living/dining area and the white marble gourmet kitchen kitchen are located on the ground floor of the main house. This area has sofas and a large table for six. I am a keen cook and the open kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including full-sized refrigerator, 5-ring cooktop, oversized oven, microwave, dishes, silverware, dinnerware, pots/pans, glassware, toaster, coffee machine, smoothie maker, rice cooker and basic food supplies.

There are two reliable and friendly staff at the house who can be as present or absent as you like. The complete daily maid service includes cleaning, washing and anything else you need done. The staff can go shopping for you, cook meals, shake/stir your poolside martini, etc. A night security guard is present. In addition, the experienced and faithful driver Putu (ex tour guide, good English) and his new car (people carrier) are available at a total cost of USD 30 per day. This excludes petrol (which is subsidized in Indonesia and costs USD28 per full tank).

Villa Salju is situated in Canggu, Bali in a quiet cul-de-sac. By car the villa is located 1 minute from the beach, 3 minutes from the Loop (favourite local eatery and supplies), and 10 minutes from stylish beachside Seminyak, including favourite restaurants such as KuDeTa (perfect for sundowners!), La Lucciola, The Legian and Warisan. There is an international class tennis facility just around the corner at the Canggu Club, and the Le Meridien Golf Course is 15 minutes away.

Located in the south, the Seminyak/Brawa/Canggu area has some of the nicest beaches in Bali. Be sure to catch the legendary sunsets and enjoy the tranquil beauty. Watch authentic Balinese ceremonies on the beach, complete with gamelan players and offerings to the gods.

Bali is so picturesque that you could be fooled into thinking it was a painted backdrop: rice paddies trip down hillsides like giant steps, volcanoes soar through the clouds, the forests are lush and tropical, and the beaches are lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Bali's temples, ceremonies, beaches, mountains and passion for life are an incredible experience. Balinese festivals, holidays and special celebrations occur all the time, so don't worry about timing your visit to coincide with local events. Just make some inquiries when you arrive and be prepared to travel around the island.

We are quite mobile, so a simultaneous exchange is not a must. We are basically able to travel at any time.

We would like to go to Singapore and Bangkok anytime (even for weekends), and to Hong Kong later in 2011. I’d love to get back to Japan. Our wishlist also includes New York City, Sydney, Adelaide, London, and anywhere in Italy or Germany.

Because we have a mobile business, it is quite important that there is an internet connection.

My name is Susan (39) and I am originally from Adelaide, Australia. After an international career in the automotive industry with stations in Japan, Germany, Thailand, Hong Kong and China I moved to Bali 4 years ago. My Balinese staff gave me the nickname “Salju”, meaning “Snow”, due to my pale skin. This is how our first villa got its name. I speak German and Japanese and continue to do freelance translating.

My partner Ngurah and I run a luxury villa management business, with five of our own villas (please see TripAdvisor - Villa Salju, Villa Bedua, Villa Erama, Villa Martini, Villa Castilla). Our 13 year old son Gungde (my step son) is an avid skateboarder and a very lovely boy.

We are well travelled and take excellent care of my house and its contents. We will keep your home clean and tidy, and expect the same from our visitors.

Generally it would be just me travelling but at times my parents (retired) may join me from Australia, in which case there may be more than three of us.
